NVIDIA announces the GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti for laptops

NVIDIA has finally formally announced its GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti GPUs for laptops. While the cat has been semi-out of the bag for a while thanks to various leaks, NVIDIA has officially announced that the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti will be making their way to laptops immediately. And much like the notebook versions of other 10-series chips, the 1050 and 1050 Ti both sport similar specs to their desktop counterparts.

As detailed by NVIDIA's specs page, the GTX 1050 for laptops packs 640 Cuda cores and features a base clock of 1354MHz and a boost clock of 1493MHz. Its standard memory configuration comes in at 4GB of 7Gbps memory. Meanwhile, the GTX 1050 Ti boasts a total of 768 Cuda cores, along with a base clock of 1493MHz and a boost clock of 1620MHz. Its standard memory configuration features the same 4GB of 7Gbps memory. All of that is enough power for VR applications.

These cards are in addition to NVIDIA's slew of other laptop chip offerings for the 1080, 1070 and 1060 — all of which feature close parity to their desktop counterparts. Perhaps most importantly, NVIDIA notes that the mobile 1050 cards will start popping up in laptops immediately. Dell, for one, has already started refreshing laptops with the chip, and there will certainly be more from other manufacturers as CES wears on.
