Acer introduces new Swift laptops and Switch 2-in-1s

At an event in New York, Acer took to the stage to unveil a new lineup of PCs for 2017. As part of the unveiling, Acer took the wraps off of an updated batch of Swift laptops and a new Switch detachable.

Starting with the Switch detachable, it's available as the Switch 3 or Switch 5 with 12-inch and 15-inch screens, respectively. The Switch 3 packs in an adjustable kickstand, while the Switch 5 features a unique retractable kickstand. The Switch 5 also sports a fingerprint reader for some added security and both pack support for Acer's Active Pen.

As for internals, the Switch 5 will be available with Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, while the smaller Switch 3 packs Intel Pentium and Celeron processors. Both ship with a detachable keyboard included, and the Switch 5's will be backlit. The Switch 5 also includes a quiet, fanless cooling system. Both will start shipping in June at $799 for the Switch 5 and $399 for the Switch 3.

Both offer thin and light metal bodies, decent power and fingerprint sensors at a budget price. The more powerful of the two, the Swift 3 offers Intel's 7th-generation Core processors, GeForce graphics, up to 512GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM. The Swift 1, on the other hand, packs Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, 4GB of RAM and up to 256GB of SSD storage.
