DC Universe Online begins its super hero battles today on the Xbox One

Daybreak Studios launched its free-to-play superhero MMO DC Universe Online today for the Xbox One. The servers for the game will be available on Xbox Live beginning at noon Eastern time (9 a.m. Pacific time).

DC Universe Online was previously released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 platforms. In a blog post and FAQ, Daybreak says that Xbox One owners can already begin downloading the game before the servers go live and that it will be about a 35GB download. The content for the Xbox One version will be the same as the PC and PlayStation versions and the plan is to update all DC Universe Online platforms at the same time going forward.

Unfortunately, players in the Xbox One version of the game won't be able to play with their PC and PlayStation counterparts as cross-platform support is not available. Microsoft did recently reveal it has enabled developers to offer cross-platform play between the Xbox One and other PC and console games, but so far, there's been no official word about Sony allowing that to happen with its PlayStation Network.
