Glide through the skies in a new mini game coming to Minecraft on consoles

As is there wasn't already enough to do in the vast sandbox that is Minecraft, Mojang has announced a new Glide mini game is coming to the console versions of the game. The best part? It'll be completely free for everyone. Check it out in the trailer below:

From Mojang:

Beat the clock in the Time Attack mode, using thermal drafts and speed boosters to your advantage, or go for points in Score Attack by hitting all the hoops. Careful study may reveal sneaky shortcuts to refine your runs, so keep your eyes peeled! You can choose to beat your personal best in solo play, pit your wing-skills against other players online, or - on Xbox One and PS4 - take a swing at the all new Glide leaderboards.

Mojang is also touting this update for some more multiplayer perks. Both Battle and Glide modes will support up to 16 players, and each console platform is getting amore spacious lobby.

The initial mini game will ship with one map, though Mojang promises more are on the way. The first map definitely looks like a doozy, though, as it transitions from wide open areas to tight holes, and back again as you descend down a spiral.

You'll be able to get your hands on the new Glide mini game with an update on the console editions of the game starting March 28.
