Add notes to your photos with Photo Marker for Windows Phone

If you have ever had the need to mark-up or add notes to a photo, you should take a look at Photo Marker for Windows Phone. It is a simple way to write on your photos, save them for future use or share them as needed.

Photo Marker makes it easy to jot down a measurement, emphasize a portion of a photo or even highlight a portion of a map screenshot or document that you've scanned. Photo Marker may not be an app you use daily but it comes across as a handy Windows Phone photography app worth having around.

The interface with Photo Marker is not very complicated. You will be greeted with an option to select a photo to mark-up when you first launch the app. Photo Marker is also available from your Pictures Hub under the editing options. Once you have edited a photo, the main page of Photo Marker will display thumbnails of previously edited photos.

The mark-up screen has three control buttons. There is an undo button, a marker button and a save button. The marker button will pull up your editing options that allow you to select the color, opacity and thickness of your marker. Once you have everything set, just tap the check mark on the settings window and you are ready to mark things up.

Images are saved at the original resolution and can be shared through the standard means on your Windows Phone (email, Facebook, Instagram, SMS, OneDrive, etc.) directly from the Photo Marker app.

There is an option under the three-dot menu on the editing screen to show the picture information. You will need to install Photo-Info on your Windows Phone to use this option and view the image's EXIF file information. Photo-Info is a free app from the same developer. It would have been nice to have seen this feature built into Photo Marker to avoid the need to bounce back and forth between apps.

Overall Impression

Photo Marker is a Windows Phone photography app that may not appeal to everyone but does a nice job of allowing you to jot down notes on to or mark-up photographs. From noting how you want an image cropped to noting distance references to marking a spot on a screenshot of a map Photo Marker can come in handy from time to time.

I would have liked to have seen an option to add text to the photo and the ability to zoom into the photo to mark up finer details. I did find that a stylus helped with writing on images but your finger will do. Either way it looks like chicken scratch (scribbling) but you can do a decent, understandable job of things.

All in all, Photo Marker is a simple and effective way to mark-up your images. At last check the app is rated at 4.5 Stars in the Windows Phone Store, which is about where Photo Marker should be. The app is free with ad-support and through an in-app purchase of $1.49 you can have the ads removed.
