Acer Swift 5 updated with ultra-thin bezels, Intel's 8th Gen processors

At its Acer@Next event today, Acer unveiled the latest refresh of its Swift 5 laptop, and it's keeping things thin and light while adding some extra oomph.

The most notable aspect of the Swift 5 is its portability. The 15.6-inch laptop weighs in at just under 1kg (around two pounds). That's thanks in large part to the magnesium-aluminum allow material Acer uses for the top and bottom cover, as well as the palm rest.

Even better, the full HD IPS display is surrounded by ultra-thin bezels, which measure in 5.87mm (0.23 inches). This gives the laptop an 87.6 percent screen-to-body ratio, Acer says. That's combined with a system that automatically adjusts gamma and saturation in real-time, which should hopefully keep things looking crisp.

On the inside, Acer has included up to 1TB of SSD storage, up to 16GB or DDR4 RAM, and Intel's latest 8th Gen processors. As for ports, you're looking at one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port (with support for power delivery and display output), two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, an SD card slot, and a single HDMI port. A fingerprint reader with Windows Hello support also allows for quick logins.

There's no word on when the new Swift 5 will be available, nor what type of price tag we're looking at. However, more information should be available soon.
