Alan Wake is a cult classic that has garnered numerous fans on Xbox and PC platforms. Unfortunately, Remedy Entertainment has been developing experiences like Quantum Break in recent years, and the franchise has been put on hold. It's unclear if Microsoft even wants to make a sequel.

Fans of the franchise may be able to get their fix through another medium though. According to a report in Variety, an Alan Wake live-action television series is in development with Peter Calloway as the showrunner and game creator Sam Lake as executive producer. You may remember Calloway from critically-acclaimed shows like "Cloak and Dagger" and "Legion".

Speaking with Variety, Lake said the following.

The story of the original game is our starting point, the seed which will grow into the bigger story we're exploring in the show. We'll be expanding the lore of this crazy and dark universe and diving deeper into certain aspects of it than the game ever did. Not only that, but through the years we've worked on multiple game concepts and stories for Alan Wake's world that have never seen the light of day. All of this material will function as potential source material for the show.

Hopefully the show will be just as good as the game. It's unclear if it's going to be a prequel or pick up after the events of the games. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the project.
