Ashen still on track for 2018 launch

Ashen is a dark role-playing game which was announced as a Microsoft exclusive many years ago. It stood out from the crowd because of its unique art style and haunting atmosphere. Since then, the project basically went dark, and fans of that early trailer have been wondering what form it would eventually take. It's unclear if it's an exclusive anymore, but we do know it's only coming to Microsoft's platforms as of now.

Many months ago, developer Aurora44 said that Ashen would launch in 2018. However, it's already November and we still don't have a concrete release date yet. Many gamers thought that it had been pushed back to 2019. Luckily, that doesn't appear to be the case. When asked whether the title had been delayed, the developer replied on Twitter, "We guarantee to you Ashen is releasing this year, we're hard at work making Ashen the best it can be at release, when we're ready to share a specific date we will!"

It's great to see that the game is still on track for 2018. Aurora44 also updated its name so that it says "Ashen 2018." Hopefully there won't be any issues during development and the title will launch soon.

At Gamescom 2018, developer Aurora44 shared more footage from Ashen. Unlike the build from a year ago, the game looks like it features smoother animations and better combat. The difference is immediately noticeable if you look at this gameplay. Apart from that, now the Xbox One X version of Ashen runs at native 4K resolution. It's great to see Aurora44 push technical boundaries on Microsoft's new console.
