Assassin's Creed Liberation and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter join Xbox backward compatibility

Today, Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, announced that Xbox 360 games Assassin's Creed Liberation HD and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter are now backward compatible on Xbox One. Both games aren't the heavy-hitters fans were hoping for, but they're still a lot of fun.

Backward compatibility opens Xbox One to a huge variety of games, spanning three generations of Microsoft's consoles. Despite hardware differences, it remains an outstanding feature, allowing a select library of older games to be played on Xbox One. While the majority of them are Xbox 360 titles, there are also some original Xbox games in there.

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD is a remastered chapter of the pre-American Revolution saga. The year is 1765 and as events leading up to the American Revolution heat up in the north, Spanish forces plan to take control of Louisiana in the south. However, they have yet to reckon with Aveline, an Assassin with French and African heritage, who finds herself on an unforgettable journey that will take her from the crowded streets of New Orleans to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

According to Ubisoft, in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, the face of war has changed. New enemies and new threats require a new type of soldier. Players become the soldier of the future using a fully-integrated combat system with cutting-edge weapons and revolutionary communication systems.

Be sure to check out these games on Xbox One if you're looking for a break between new experiences like The Crew 2. Even to this day Assassin's Creed Liberation HD and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter remain quite enjoyable.

Dante's Inferno

Additionally, it looks like EA revealed another game coming to backward compatibility soon. According to the EA Access website, Dante's Inferno will be joining the service in the next few months. Considering that the game is an Xbox 360 experience, it'll become backward compatible then too.

Based on the immensely influential classic poem, Dante's Inferno takes you on an epic quest of vengeance and redemption through the Nine Circles of Hell. You are Dante, a veteran of the Crusades who must chase his beloved Beatrice and try to free her soul from Lucifer's grasp. As your pursuit takes you deeper into the pits of Hell, you must battle ever more fierce and hideous monsters, while also facing your own sins, a dark family past, and your unforgivable war crimes.
