ASUS new ROG Zephyrus S is the 'world's thinnest gaming laptop'

ASUS already had a lock on super-thin gaming laptops with the original ROG Zephyrus, but it's slimming things down even further with its latest, the ROG Zephyrus S. And even though ASUS is billing this as the "world's thinnest" gaming laptop, it has still managed to pack in enough power for triple-A gaming.

The 15-inch laptop is powered by Intel's Core i7-8750H processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1070 Max-Q graphics, and up to 24GB of RAM. Storage options vary, with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB SSDs available. And while the screen resolution comes in at 1920x1080, it features a 144Hz refresh rate with a 3ms response time and 100 percent sRGB coverage.

In terms of design, the chassis comes in at between 14.95mm and 15.75mm thick. The chicklet keyboard sports four zones of RGB backlighting with support for ASUS' Aura Sync platform.

The Zephyrus S is available to preorder now for $1,899.

ASUS didn't stop with the Zephyrus S, however. It has also introduced the ROG Strix Scar II, which has a little more wiggle room in its specs. Powering things is either Intel's Core i7-8750H or Core i5-8300H, up to 32GB of RAM, and GeForce GTX 1060 or 1070 graphics. Once again, ASUS has gone with a 15.6-inch IPS display at 144Hz with a 3ms response time.

The ROG Strix Scar II is a bit thicker than the Zephyrus S, coming in at 26.1mm in height. Otherwise, you're once again looking at a chiclet keyboard with four RGB zones and support for the Aura Sync system.

The ROG Strix Scar II is up for grabs now starting at $1,946.
