Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered getting standalone release, hitting PS4 first

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is finally getting a standalone release, but it's not all sunshine and roses for Xbox One and PC gamers. The game has been confirmed for a June 27 standalone release, but it's coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4) first with other platforms to follow.

Unfortuntely, there's no word on just when the game will hit platforms other than PS4, but it's safe to assume it will eventually see an Xbox One and PC release. As for price, the game will run $40, which is much better than expecting full price for a remastered of a ten-year-old game, but probably still a little high for some.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was originally available only with special edition bundles with 2016's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Fans of the series have been calling for a standalone release ever since its launch, so it's good to see it's finally on its way. Better late than never.

The next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, World War II, is set to arrive on November 3. If that's more your style, you can preorder it now on the Xbox Store.
