Chime in: Is Microsoft's Surface Book 2 too expensive?

In fact, it's probably Microsoft's most drool-worthy laptop ever, and the Surface Book 2 may set a new standard for what Windows laptops can and should be.

The new Books come in two sizes, with a 13.5-inch and new 15-inch version. They pack powerful specs, including Intel eighth-generation quad-core processors and either a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (13.5 inch) or GTX 1060 (15 inch) GPU. The new Surface Books are five times more potent than their predecessor (and twice as powerful as the 2017 Apple MacBook Pro). With up to 17 hours of battery life and the addition of USB Type-C 3.1, the Surface Book 2 is a Windows user's dream.

But all of that definitely does not come cheap; the smaller version starts around $1,500, and 15-inch Surface Book 2 goes all the way up to $3,000. Needless to say, many of us at Windows Central have our eyes on the new Books, and some of us have already decided to make it our next PC. But for most folks, that's a significant purchase, especially if you don't really need a new computer.

We recently ran a poll asking readers whether or not they plan to buy the new Surface Book 2, and the results were somewhat surprising. Nearly the same percentage of respondents said "no way" as those who answered "absolutely."
