Cortana Device Setup rolling out support for GLAS thermostat

Though the Cortana-powered GLAS thermostat from Johnson Controls isn't even available yet, the Cortana Device Setup app appears to be adding support for the device. Previously limited to assisting in setting up the Harman Kardon Invoke, the Windows 10 PC and Mobile app is now presenting at least some users with the option to set up GLAS.

GLAS was initially teased in a reveal video last July, but Microsoft and Johnson Controls remained tight-lipped concerning details about the thermostat. In January, Johnson Controls revealed GLAS would be available for preorder in March for $319. However, March came and went, and GLAS still isn't up for preorder.

The sleek thermostat features an OLED touchscreen display and is powered by Windows IoT Core and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410E embedded platform. GLAS uses Cortana for voice control and to provide information like the weather forecast, increases or decreases in temperature, traffic, and more.

GLAS will also be able to adapt to your schedule to maintain a comfortable temperature, track air quality, and report on information such as humidity, carbon dioxide levels, and volatile organic compounds.

Support for GLAS in the Cortana Device Setup app doesn't seem to be showing for everyone just yet, but it could indicate that the device is closer to going on sale. For more, you can read up on GLAS at Johnson Controls.
