The Division 2 map is a 1:1 representation of Washington D.C.

Microsoft debuted the first gameplay footage of Ubisoft's forthcoming sequel, The Division 2, at its E3 2018 press conference. While details are still fairly scarce (we'd expect Ubisoft to detail more at its event), there are some interesting tidbits out there already.

Not only do we now know for sure it's set in Washington D.C., we also have an indication on how big the map is going to be. And that's pretty big.

Nestled on the beta signup site we find this:

Unlike anything before it, The Division 2's Washington D.C. is a 1:1 representation of the real city, making the game world more authentic than ever. The game's map offers up-close-and-personal views of landmarks, natural landscapes, neighborhoods, and enemy hideouts.

Like the first Division game, you'd expect sizeable chunks of the city to be out of bounds, but that it's being built as a 1:1 representation in the game gives some scope of how big it really is.

We also have our first information on a new faction in the game. True Sons is led by an ex-JTF officer and are "a group of paramilitary warlords bent on using their combat expertise and overwhelming firepower to dominate their enemies and expand their territory." Sounds terrifying.

The Division 2 is set to launch on March 15, 2019, and beta signups for Xbox, PC and PS4 are live right now, though we don't yet know when that will take place.
