Streamers rejoice: Elgato reveals a crazy convenient green screen and a new pro cam link

Pretty much everyone at Windows Central uses an Elgato capture device to produce our YouTube content, but we also use them for streaming to our Mixer.com channel, as do thousands and thousands of others.

Elgato's capture cards are all about convenience, so it should come as no surprise then that the company has now produced what looks set to be the world's most convenience green screen, perfect for eliminating the background when you're streaming or shooting demonstration YouTube clips.

Additionally, Elgato revealed a new USB cam link attachment, which lets you use any high-powered HDMI-compatible camera as a webcam source for programs like OBS and XSplit. Say goodbye to grainy webcams, Elgato wants your streams to look truly pristine.

Elgato Green Screen

The Elgato Green Screen looks incredibly convenient, and should prove useful not only for streamers, but also all sorts of content creators who want a portable Chroma Key solution for eliminating backgrounds, or replacing backgrounds with different images or footage.

The Elgato Green Screen is deployed from a portable case, and can be extended using a pneumatic X-shaped frame that rests at the back of the screen. The case also has retractable feet to keep it steady on the ground.

The Elgato Green Screen is 148 x 180cm (58.27 x 70.87 in) at its full height and width, and collapses into a 148 x 10 x 11cm (64.76 x 4.13 x 4.53 in) alluminium case for storage and transportation. It's fairly weighty at 20.5 lb, but hey, you're getting a portable polyester green screen.

Elgato says that the pneumatic frame and materials used make the screen "wrinkle resistant," which any streamer might know can create odd shadows on your webcam feed while in use.

The Elgato Green Screen clocks in at $149.95 on Elgato's official store, with Amazon listings coming shortly.

Elgato wasn't content to stop at the Green Screen, though. Alongside that, Elgato revealed their new Cam Link device, which allows you to connect high-powered cameras as regular USB devices as a webcam source for various streaming programs.

You can connect multiple Cam Links to a single PC as well, and combined with the Elgato Stream Deck, you can effectively create a professional studio with camera angle changes and 1080p, 60 FPS footage. All your camera needs is the ability to support HDMI-out, and you're good to go.

The Elgato Cam Link clocks in at $129.95 and is available on Amazon and Elgato's web store.

Elgato power!

Elgato seems intent on creating the greatest collection of tools for video game streamers, which not only includes their capture cards, but also the awesome Elgato Stream Deck. Now, I just have to wonder whether or not they'll be bringing 4K capture devices to market to support the Xbox One X...
