Fall Creators Update hits 92 percent coverage of Windows 10 PCs, AdDuplex says

The next big Windows 10 update is nearly here, but the Fall Creators Update is continuing its upward surge in the meantime. According to the latest monthly report on the Windows ecosystem from AdDuplex, the Fall Creators Update is now installed on 92.1 percent of Windows 10 PCs. For comparison, that far outpaces the Creators Update, which only made it to upwards of 74 percent coverage before the Fall Creators Update's release.

The Fall Creators Update has enjoyed a fairly rapid rollout compared to its predecessors. In its previous report for March, AdDuplex called it "undeniably the fastest spreading update in a long time." That said, the rollout has slowed a bit, moving up from 90 percent coverage in March and 85 percent in February.

Windows 10 PC OS Versions April

As for previous releases, the Windows 10 Creators Update sits at 3.2 percent, while the Anniversary Update and version 1511 sit at 2.9 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively. Windows 10 versions 1507 is at 0.4 percent.

These new numbers come as we're waiting for Microsoft to release the spring feature update, currently speculated to be dubbed the April Update. The update was originally expected to be released around April 10, but Microsoft appears to have had to hold its initial RTM candidate back from public release after discovering a blocking bug. There's currently no indication as to when the update may roll out to the public, but the latest test build, 17134, quickly made its way through the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings, so it could be any day now.

As with all AdDuplex reports, it's worth remembering these numbers are based on a sampling of data collected from 5,000 Microsoft Store apps using the company's SDK. Actual figures are likely different, but these reports are useful for tracking trends. The numbers for April were collected on April 25.
