First Xbox One Redstone 5 build rolls out to Skip Ahead Insiders

Microsoft is rolling out a new Xbox One update to select Xbox Insider Program members – the first under the "Redstone 5" development branch. Establishing foundations for the next wave of upcoming features, the update brings a shift to version number 1810 with various fixes. This build doesn't bring much new, though Xbox Insider head, Brad Rosetti, promises more to come "over the coming weeks."

The new build is currently rolling out to a subset of Xbox Insiders, enlisted in the program's newly-formed Skip Ahead ring. Like the equivalent Windows Insider Program ring, this provides the opportunity to access the next feature update early, with new features likely imminent. Meanwhile, Alpha ring members remain on Redstone 4 (1806), alongside the other rings.

Upon downloading the update, Skip Ahead users will be treated to several new fixes, as detailed in the Xbox Wire changelog.

Groups

  • Renamed pins group now changes without the need for a reboot.

My Games and Apps

  • Fixes for titles using the FastStart technology.

Narrator

  • Various fixes for the new Narrator languages.

System Performance

  • Misc. performance fixes in the platform.

For those who use the Xbox One's "Instant On" mode, the update will begin automatically downloading to your console. If you choose to manually install the build, navigate to "All Settings > System > Console Info & Updates" and check for an update.

Which features are hoping for next? Make sure to let us know in the comments.
