Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor headline August's free Xbox Games with Gold

Today, Microsoft announced August's free Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners. Starting on August 1, 2018, Forza Horizon 2 and Dead Space 3 will be free with the subscription. Then, on August 16, Xbox Live Gold members can download For Honor and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two at no cost. Dead Space 3 and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two are backward compatible so you can also play them on your Xbox One or Xbox One X with better performance.

Forza Horizon 2

Forza Horizon 2 is the sequel to Forza Horizon and improves on it in a number of ways. Not only are the visuals better, but the world is bigger. Southern Europe hasn't looked better and you can drive anywhere in this gorgeous open-world experience. While Forza Horizon 2 might not be as refined as Forza Horizon 3, it's still a great game on Xbox One. Unfortunately, it isn't enhanced for Xbox One X, but still manages to achieve 1080p 30 FPS on base hardware.

Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 is the final chapter in the Dead Space trilogy. Now that Visceral Games no longer exists, there's a strong possibility that this might be the last Dead Space game we see in years. Or ever. While the title didn't receive the universal critical acclaim of its predecessors, it's still a lot of fun and somewhat wraps up the story. The game is more action-focused this time around with less horror moments. If you loved titles like Resident Evil 5, be sure to give this one a go.

For Honor

For Honor is a third-person fighting game where you have to utilize skillful combat to dispatch foes. The title focuses on a number of historical warriors like the Vikings and Samurai as they fight for resources in an alternate reality. Aside from providing a short single-player campaign, the multiplayer modes are robust and present quite the challenge. For Honor has received exemplary post-launch support since release, and this continues with "Season VII: Storm and Fury". Storm and Fury arrives as a free update on August 2. The content includes a new map, major reworks of two heroes, and tweaks to the ranking system.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is a great platformer and sequel to Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. Just like the prequel, this game takes place in a world based on classic and retired Disney characters. The biggest addition was Oswald as a supporting character. Oswald can be computer-controlled or another player. Both games didn't receive stellar reviews as launch but gamers love them.

Be sure to download all four of these games next month because many of them are great experiences. Out of all of these, we would recommend playing Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor because they're incredible titles even to this day.
