HP's Emperium display is a 65-inch gaming monster with a matching soundbar

Console gaming has typically been the domain of massive displays, but HP is looking to change that up with the latest addition to its Omen lineup at CES 2019. The Omen X Emperium is a massive, 65-inch gaming display that packs all of the bells and whistles, ranging from HDR to NVIDIA G-Sync and a speedy refresh rate. Oh, and there's a matching soundbar, too.

Think of the Omen X Emperium as gaming display on steroids. It checks all of the boxes on a PC gamer's list of wants, and then some. That includes a 4K resolution running at a sharp 144Hz. And if you use an NVIDIA graphics card, you'll be able to keep your frames in sync and prevent screen tearing and stutters with NVIDIA G-Sync. Quantum Dot tech, combined with HDR support, will also mean incredibly poppy colors and deep blacks, whether you're gaming or checking out the latest shows and movies on Netflix.

Perhaps just as impressive is that HP has created a matching soundbar, the Omen X Emperium Soundbar. Designed to fit underneath the Omen X Emperium, the soundbar includes three stereo amps at 120 watts and Low Frequency Array tech, eliminating the need for an external subwoofer. The bar comes tuned with two audio modes as well, covering gaming and entertainment.

Ports include one DisplayPort 1.4, three HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports, and two USB charging ports. And if you're plugging and unplugging things in the dark, the Emperium display includes a neat proximity lighting scheme that can detect your hand and automatically shed light on the ports.

As you might expect, none of this comes cheap. The Omen X Emperium 65 with Soundbar is expected to launch in February for a whopping $5,000.
