Huawei's powerful new MateBook X Pro is now available in the U.S., and it's coming at a price that may surprise. While some were expecting the high-end laptop to hit the $2,000 mark, Huawei announced today that it is available in two variants, coming in at $1,199 and $1,499, respectively.

For the money, the MateBook X Pro packs a 13.9-inch touch-enabled display with a 3:2 aspect ration at 3000 x 2000 resolution. The highlight of the display is its 91 percent screen-to-body ration, thanks to the thin bezels on each side. Huawei has also managed to reach 99 percent sRGB and 77 percent AdobeRGB accuracy.

As for the internals, the $1,499 model packs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM, a speedy 512GB SSD for storage, and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics. The $1,199 model steps things down to an 8th Gen Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and Intel's UHD Graphics 620.

Rounding things out is solid audio, courtesy of a quad-speaker Dolby Atmos system. A fingerprint sensor is also embedded in the power button, and Huawei is throwing in one year of Microsoft Office 365 Personal.

In his recent review of the MateBook X Pro, Windows Central Executive Editor Daniel Rubino touted the MateBook X Pro as "easily one of [his] favorite laptops right now." From the review:

The fundamentals – battery life, typing, display, and audio – are all well above average. Those speakers tell me that companies like Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo, etc. are not trying hard enough. For those who watch movies or listen to music, the MateBook X Pro is one of the best on the market, period.

Huawei says the MateBook X Pro is available now in "Space Gray" or "Mystic Silver" starting at $1,199. That said, the Microsoft Store currently has each model available at a pretty nice discount, dropping $50 off the entry-level model and $150 off the top-end model.
