Latest Star Control: Origins trailer from Stardock takes an unexpected shift in tone

Humanity needs saving. But how you will go about it is up to you.

The latest video trailer from Stardock for its upcoming space RPG Star Control: Origins was prepped for Gamescom and offers a look at some of the gameplay mechanics players will be able to experience at launch. Titled "By any means necessary," it shows the dire situation humanity finds itself in, being hunted by a mysterious alien race that seeks our extinction.

It's an interesting move by the company to switch up the tone of Star Control: Origins in this latest teaser. We've grown accustomed to the humorous alien races we'll be meeting but this trailer depicts a different side to the game. One where you could wreak havoc across the universe in a bid to save our species.

How you will go about saving humanity is up to you. Will you be a force to be reckoned with or a new friend to those who could use a little help? Star Control: Origins will be released on September 20 for PC.
