Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, was behind a penthouse purchase that set a record for the most expensive home purchased in New York in 2014. The Wall Street Journal reports that the billionaire paid an eye-popping $100.47 million for the home, located in the One57 building located on West 57th Street.

Since its purchase, the buyer of the home remained a mystery until The Wall Street Journal named Dell, citing "two people familiar with the deal." The duplex in question includes six bedrooms and six bathrooms spread over 10,923 square feet on the 89th and 90th floors of the building. One57 is more than 1,000 feet tall and sits just south of Central Park.

Though the One57 penthouse purchase is the only one to pass the $100 million threshold in New York, a four-floor penthouse at 220 Central Park South is eventually expected to fetch more than $200 million.

According to Bloomberg's billionaire index, Michael Dell has a net worth of $21.3 billion, ranking in at number 40. For reference, Amazon's Jeff Bezos tops the list at $124 billion while Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates follows in second at $91.6 billion.
