Microsoft opens up new €134 million campus in Dublin

Microsoft Ireland Headquarters

Microsoft today opened its new campus in Dublin, Ireland, bringing to completion a project that took more than two years to construct. Called One Microsoft Place, the €134 million campus in Leopardstown is now home to 2,000 employees from 71 nationalities across Microsoft's sales, engineering and operation teams.

The building covers a total of 34,000 square meters and, curiously, doesn't contain any offices. According to an overview of the new space from Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTE), Ireland's National Public Service Broadcaster, the space was built in such a way to encourage teams to sit together in "neighborhoods." Those are backed up by more than 80 meeting rooms, "focus group" room, and a theater-like Technology Center that can seat 3,000 people.

Speaking to RTE, Microsoft's Managing Director for Ireland Cathriona Hallahan represented the cultural shift Microsoft has gone through since Satya Nadella took over as CEO.

Really since Satya Nadella took on as CEO of the company and redefined our mission, which is to empower every individual and organisation on the planet to achieve more. What we are doing in this building is bringing all of the teams together, whether it is engineering, or operations or digital sales, and helping them to innovate in this new culture of one Microsoft.

Besides its neighborhoods and meeting spaces, One Microsoft Place also includes a "Dreamspace" intended to be used to kids about science, engineering, and math. Perks for employees include a gym, yoga studio, nail bar, massage room, and "fully equipped music room," according to RTE. Microsoft Ireland also boasts that the campus' "numerous restaurants serve food from all over the world."
