Nier: Automata finally launches on Xbox One [updated]

Nier: Automata is an action game which takes place in the distant future. Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat known as "machine lifeforms". In the face of this insurmountable foe, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon. The Council of Humanity organizes a resistance of android soldiers in an effort to take back the planet. To break the deadlock, the group deploys a new unit of android infantry known as the "YoRHa".

Playing as 2B and 9S, players will uncover the history behind Earth's invaders and how to return peace to the planet.

Nier: Automata is finally available on Xbox One after months of waiting. The game costs $49.99 and comes with all of the bizarre add-ons which Square Enix released months later. Buyers will receive the "3C3C1D119440927" expansion, alongside an extensive list of cosmetic skins. Otherwise, customers should expect a core experience similar to existing versions.

In our review, we said "it's hard to fault what most of Nier: Automata's offers, mostly because it majestically executes in a sleek and ingenious manner." Be sure to give it a go on Xbox One X because it achieves "4K Ultra HD" resolution on the console and runs at 60 FPS.

Updated June 30, 2018: According to Digital Foundry, Nier: Automata runs at checkerboarded 4K on Xbox One X. This is the first game high-profile game that uses checkerboarded rendering on the console.
