NVIDIA GeForce Experience can now add hipster filters to your games

NVIDIA's biggest announcements at CES 2018 were hardware related, but there's plenty of goodness going on with software and services, too. Alongside the new GeForce Now streaming service, the GeForce Experience PC app is getting some new hotness.

Like hipster filters for your PC games. Just like on Instagram.

OK, I'm being a little ridiculous there, but the effect is very similar. Freestyle is a new feature in GeForce Experience that allows you to overlay any of 15 different filters to give your gameplay footage a more unique, perhaps cinematic experience.

You could play LA Noire in black and white. How about that then?

Joking aside, there are some serious use cases behind Freestyle that are anything but frivolous.

Freestyle lets you be more creative with your games. For example, you can create a retro war-themed filter for your favorite FPS or enhance color and contrast to make a game look more photorealistic.Freestyle's more serious uses include a colorblind mode that makes it easier for colorblind gamers to differentiate between colors. Gamers can even use night mode, which reduces blue color so users can sleep better after a night of gaming. We've integrated Freestyle at the driver level for seamless compatibility with games. We're releasing the Freestyle game filters beta with support for over 100 game titles.

Night mode and in particular colorblind mode are amazing additions and will surely make a difference for a lot of people.

Along with Freestyle, NVIDIA has announced that from January 10, Fortnite Battle Royale will be gaining support for Shadowplay Highlights, alongside Crossout and Elex. Never again will you miss that crazy final kill.
