Office Insider Slow ring for Mac picks up new ribbon look and much more

Slow ring Office Insiders on Mac are getting a preview of an updated look for the ribbon, along with several new features across apps today.

While the new ribbon icons are the biggest user-facing change, Microsoft has also added an easier way to encrypt mail in Outlook, a PowerPoint view that shows all of your slides at a glance, and shortcuts for quickly changing the file name of whatever you're working on.

Here's a rundown of all of what's new:

  • Get the picture? Search the web for pictures within your office apps. Select Insert > Online Pictures to begin. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • What's in the filename? Click the filename to quickly move, rename, or browse the version history of your cloud documents, worksheets, and presentations. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Summary Zoom: See all of the pieces of your presentation at once in an interactive table of contents. When presenting, get the flexibility you need to be creative and show your slides in any order, skip ahead or jump back as needed. (PowerPoint)
  • Easier mail encryption: The Encrypt button now has an Encrypt-only option which makes it easier to send encrypted email, both inside an outside your organization. (Outlook)
  • Your ribbon icons have a new look: Don't worry, everything works the same. Plus, all of the icons look great on screens of all sizes. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote)

If you're already enrolled as an Office Insider, you can pick up all of these new features with version 16.19.181104.
