Rainbow Six Siege 'Rainbow is Magic' event packs a cute April Fools twist

Ubisoft is seemingly gearing up for a limited-time April Fools mode for its hit tactical shooter, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. As previously detailed via its Year 4 roadmap, the coming week looks to host a rainbow-lined week-long event, packed with toy soldiers-themed content. Although yet to be unveiled, the "Rainbow is Magic" event should drop on April 1, 2019.

Updated April 1, 2019: Ubisoft has formally unveiled the Rainbow is Magic event for Rainbow Six Siege. Now live on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, players will storm the presidential plane, securing the VIP teddy bear taken hostage onboard. It's the same iconic first-person shooter gameplay, wrapped with an April Fools twist.

An April Fools Rainbow Six event isn't unexpected, with leaked game files previously uncovering vibrant toy soldier skins and pastel pink attire. We're now hearing Ubisoft plans to launch a dedicated event, featuring a custom playlist and accompanying cosmetic packs.

An early in-game pop-up is now hitting some Rainbow Six clients (via coreross), detailing a "special" Hostage mode, located in a "dreamy, cutesie" version of the existing multiplayer map, Plane. The accompanying asset shows the map reinvented with vibrant pink aircraft, toy cars, and other major aesthetic changes.

This is expected to debut alongside the "Magic Collection," a new wave of premium cosmetic packs available throughout the limited-time event. Although exact contents are unclear, we expect the previously-leaked skins to be included. Like all recent event packs, these will likely be available for 300 R6 Credits each, alongside free packs via in-game challenges.

Teasers are now brewing on the official Rainbow Six Twitter account too, with a new unicorn charm and rainbow header surfacing overnight.

Expect the Rainbow Six Siege Rainbow is Magic event to release on April 1, before concluding on April 8. However, take details lightly until a formal reveal from Ubisoft.

Rainbow Six Siege is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, priced at $22.
