Recently, Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Online's availability to the general public. Red Dead Online is a connected online experience set against the backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2's massive open world. According to the studio, this new version is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience found in Red Dead Redemption.

Today, the developer announced that "Gun Rush," the long-awaited battle royale mode with 32 players, is available in Red Dead Online Beta. Gun Rush is where you'll put your survival instincts to the test, gathering weapons and ammunition while the play area shrinks. Gun Rush is available to play now in free-for-all and team variations, where the last one standing wins. Also, the PlayStation 4 exclusive content is now available on Xbox One.

More updates like new weapons and clothing, dynamic world events, new story missions, daily challenges, law and bounty upgrades, parley changes, and proximity-based player blips are also coming to Red Dead Online soon. The biggest changes has to be the proximity changes. Player location blips will soon appear only over short distances, reducing the range at which you are visible to others, decreasing the likelihood of being targeted by another player across large areas. Rockstar added that "Down the line, we're also looking to introduce the ability to identify players who grief and kill indiscriminately with a progressively darkening blip that becomes more visible and at a longer range, so everyone in a session can identify potentially dangerous opponents at a glance and from a safe distance."

Red Dead Redemption 2 focuses on the events after a robbery goes wrong in the town of Blackwater. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive.
