Red Dead Redemption 2 features first-person mode at launch

Outlets around the world are getting their hands on Red Dead Redemption 2, and new details keep on pouring out. Today, IGN announced that the game would feature a first-person mode at launch. This is a welcome addition from Grand Theft Auto V.

Grand Theft Auto V also featured a first-person mode, but it was added only after the title launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 years later. Playing in first-person enhances immersion even though it limits your view of the environment. Red Dead Redemption 2's first-person mode seems more like a novelty than useful feature.

After a robbery goes wrong in the town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear them apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals or loyalty to the gang who raised him.

Red Dead Redemption 2 should launch on October 26, 2018 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems. The game achieves "4K Ultra HD" resolution on Xbox One X. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the game.
