Sonic Mania Plus to speed past the goal plate in July

Sega will be bringing even more Sonic the Hedgehog to PC and consoles with a special release for Sonic Mania, arguably the best game released with the blue hedgehog in recent years. Those who have played through the game a number of times already will be able to play once again as Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. There are also a number of cool new features in tow.

Wonderful new trailer by Tyson Hesse animation.

There's a new encore mode that will provide a new look to familiar zones with new challenges and layouts. That's not all, however, as the team will also update competition and time attack modes, allowing for four player competitions and ghost challenges for time trials.

If you already own Sonic Mania, you'll be able to purchase the extra content for $4.99, which will bring the amount spent up to the new fee for the game as a whole (which includes the base title and Plus). PC and consoles will see the new version rolled out on July 17.
