This spiffy Sea of Thieves controller will let you hit the high seas in style

Microsoft finally revealed March 20, 2018 as the release date for Rare's online pirate adventure, Sea of Thieves. If you've been eagerly awaiting the game, that's still quite a wait to hit the seas and start hunting for treasure. Thankfully, Microsoft has some extra booty to stoke the hype with Sea of Thieves fans ahead of launch: a limited edition controller.

Available for preorder now, the Sea of Thieves Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller sports a pretty slick set of customizations. Made up of a largely purple color, it features teal accents in the form of glowing paint splatter and button labels. Of course, there's also a big glowing skull planted right in the middle of the controller, as well as some worn detailing on the right grip. The compass directions around the left thumbstick are also a pretty nice touch fitting of a nautical theme.

On top of the custom details, Microsoft says that the controller will come with an exclusive in-game Ferryman Clothing Set, along with 14-day trials to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.

It's a pretty spiffy controller that brings to mind the extensive details Microsoft put into a similar custom Gears of War 4 controller around that games launch. Unfortunately, it will cost you quite a pretty penny. The Sea of Thieves Limited Edition controller can be preordered now for $74.99. The controller is due for release ahead of the game, though, on February 6, 2018. Sea of Thieves itself is also up for preorder at Microsoft for $59.99.
