Subnautica to launch out of Steam PC Early Access in the deep blue on January 23

Subnautica

Subnautica is a survival come adventure game that originally launched on Steam Early Access back in 2014. Since that time the game has been regularly updated and now the developer is ready to go gold. January 23 is the date in which a live stream will be held on Twitch to celebrate the release of the PC copy with developer interviews, the premiere of the cinematic trailer for the game, as well as some other bits and pieces.

For those unfamiliar with the name Subnautica, the game crash lands you on an alien planet and the only way to go is down. You'll need to explore the depths below, construct a base to work from and build vehicles to aid you in moving around, as well as desperately speed away from hungry predators. It's easy to quickly move from some lovely coral reefs to dark holes in the ground, begging for an unaware explorer to enter.

Should you be interested in seeing the developer hit the red button to launch the game (and see real-life sea creatures), Unknown Worlds will host the stream at 9:15 pm EST (2:15 am GMT). For console owners, Subnautica is also heading towards an Xbox release — more on that at a later date. Xbox One and PC gamers can purchase Subnautica on Steam right now.
