Ubisoft's gritty pirate adventure 'Skull and Bones' gets two new trailers

Ubisoft took to the stage during its E3 2018 press conference to show off a fresh look at Skull and Bones, the publisher's upcoming pirate adventure. The two trailers show off a cinematic look at some of the game's backstory, along with some explosive ship-on-ship gameplay.

Ubisoft initially set the stage for Skull and Bones with its reveal at E3 2017, saying it was inspired by the same tech that powered 2014's Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. The game pits players against one another on the high seas, with a heavy emphasis on stealth, gathering loot, and blowing the heck out of enemy ships.

One look at the game will draw to mind Rare's Sea of Thieves, but Ubisoft is applying a much darker tone to Skull and Bones. The combat also looks a lot more hectic that what you'll encounter in Rare's more charming approach to the pirate genre.
