Microsoft and Discord are joining forces to let gamers link their Xbox Live and Discord accounts together. The goal of the partnership, Microsoft says, is to let gamers more easily share what they're playing with friends no matter where they're gaming.

"In response to your feedback, you will now have the option to link your Discord account to your Xbox account, making it easier than ever to see what your friends are playing," Microsoft says. "If you are playing Sea of Thieves on your Xbox, you can now choose to give your Discord friends the ability to see that and decide whether they want to hop on their Xbox and join you."

The feature isn't available just yet, but Microsoft says it will soon be available for Xbox Insiders to test in preview. From the Account Setting menu, a new Discord option will appear in the "Linked social accounts" area. From there, you'll be able to select the "Link" option to get a unique code from Xbox, which you'll then use in the Discord app's Connection's tab to link your accounts.

Likewise, Discord users on PC and in the mobile apps will see an option "in the coming weeks" to link with their Xbox accounts.

Once your accounts are linked, your Discord friends will then be able to see what you're playing on Xbox from within the Discord app.
