Xbox and PC shooter 'Generation Zero' needs you to fight robots in Sweden

Avalanche Studios is a celebrated developer that has worked on games like Just Cause 3, Mad Max, and Rage 2. Today, the team revealed a new co-op shooting experience called "Generation Zero". The game takes place in an open-world setting and pits you against titanic machines in a desperate fight for survival. Unlike other games, the title takes place in a persistent online environment so if you do damage to a particular robot and destroy a piece of its armor, the damaged robot will still be there when you get back.

Aside from the towering constructs, the most striking element of Generation Zero has to be its gorgeous visuals. Avalanche Studios has pushed out numerous stunning games, but theHunter: Call of the Wild gave us a good look at what was possible from a first-person perspective. Hopefully Generation Zero will be a mighty leap forward in terms of technology.

The backstory is also quite unique because Generation Zero takes place in Sweden during the 1980s. The game is expected to release in 2019 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. The developer didn't provide any indication of a Nintendo Switch port.

Generation Zero seems like it's a chaotic blend of Left 4 Dead and an open world. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the project. New information, including gameplay, might be available at E3 2018 in a few days.
