Xbox Design Lab rolls out new 'Camo' and 'Shadow' options for controllers

One of the most underrated bits of the Xbox ecosystem is the Xbox Design Lab, an online tool where you can customize your own controller in nearly any way you see fit. Over time, Microsoft has gradually added more options to the configuration menu, but today at Gamescom 2018, it announced a couple of stylish new options that should make Xbox fans quite happy.

When designing a controller, you can now choose from Camo and Shadow customization options. Previously, these were only available through controllers that Microsoft designed and sold themselves, limited the colors available. With their addition to the design lab, however, you can go as crazy as you want.

To recap, the Camo pattern is just as it sounds, featuring a stylized camouflage that covers the front of the controller. The Shadow design, meanwhile, gradually fades from a darker color to a lighter on from top to bottom. Both patterns are now open for custom color combinations on the Xbox Design Lab.

Finally, Microsoft has a limited time design called "Sterling Silver Shadow" available through September 30.

To get started, you can head to the Xbox Design Lab to either choose from designs created by others, or complete a custom design of your own. Prices start at $69.99 and go up from there depending on how you deck out your particular design.
